We survived the hurricane! I kept waking Dean up all night asking him if we should go under the stairs in the closet. Dean and the kids slept through the worst part of it. Me? Not really. I felt like someone had to be up in case we had to hide out away from the windows. I haven't been in anything quite like that before.
We sustained minimal damage with two oak trees down in the backyard. The one close to our bedroom fell away from the house through the fence and onto the street. The other one fell through one fence board and onto the bike trail behind us. We are thankful.
A kind crew from Fellowship of the Woodlands came and cut our trees up for a debris pick up. It was uplifting to see people serving as the hands and feet of Jesus.
Dean's Air Traffic Controller organization, NATCA, was kind and delivered a generator with two large containers of gas on Monday. We used it sparingly since our food had gone bad already and we had awesome weather.
We are also one of the few people that got electricity back on Tuesday night. Boy am I thankful for that. I will never complain about doing dishes with a dishwasher again! It is unbelievable that over half the people in Houston still don't have power. My heart feels for them. Anyone reading this that needs laundry or a hot meal or a/c when it gets hot let me know. I am here to help you!

Yeah, we were going to wait for him to turn five but he is close enough..only two months away. So glad you guys survived the storm and how nice to get such quick help! I think it will be awhile before we can get a new fence. We're on a list. :0) I can not complain though. We were VERY lucky. So glad you guys are safe!! And I was like you- someone had to be awake incase we had to run in the pantry. Have a good weekend!
